ALL ABOUT 'OEM+'

OEM+ - WHY IS IT BECOMING SO POPULAR?

The term ‘OEM+’ stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer Plus - this is effectively, in the car world, parts that look like they could have come from factory, but are a nice upgrade from what was originally received from the manufacturer. OEM+ is all about making sophisticated, almost more mature upgrades to your vehicle. The point is to build on the car you were given from the dealer, and not to drastically change the look.

We offer body styling and performance upgrades for all needs, as well as people who want to make more drastic changes to their car. We have noticed that OEM+ is becoming a more desirable aesthetic day-by-day, and we thought we’d explore why that is and how we accommodate it.

What kind of stuff comes under ‘OEM+’?

Subtle body styling

Some body styling sticks out massively from the car and is an obvious aftermarket modification, however, some body styling just compliments the lines of the car and adds a really sleek, upmarket look to the vehicle.

An OEM+ Front Splitter can just bring your car a tad lower to the ground, while bulking the front out ever so slightly to compliment the lines of the chassis.

An OEM+ Spoiler can be the smallest addition to the rear of the car, but makes all the difference for a more streamlined aesthetic.

OEM+ Side skirts, similar to the front splitter, can bring your car the tiniest bit lower, and elevate its appearance.

subtle exhaust upgrades

Exhaust upgrades are dependant on the car, some systems will make minimal difference to the noise, and some will make a world of difference.

The most OEM+ exhaust we offer to customers is the Remus Sport system - we recommend this system when the client isn’t happy with the noise/tone of their car from factory, and just wants it to sound good. They don’t want it to pop and bang constantly and wake their neighbours up, they just want a more satisfying sound when they put their foot down.

wheel upgrades

Similar to exhausts, wheel upgrades are dependant on the car - some wheels genuinely look like they could have come with the car from factory, and some are a head-turning change that really transform the whole vehicle. On quite a few cars, we have fitted our M-W3 wheel, this tends to come under that OEM+ look - it’s not too much, however you can get fantastic finishes with a gorgeous style, all the while sticking with the theme of subtlety.

LOWERING SPRINGS

We offer Eibach springs for our customers seeking OEM+ upgrades, a large factor in this is how well they retain ride comfort - meaning you can lower your car and not feel an unpleasant change in how your car sits on a day-to-day drive. Eibach springs are sure to bring your car down to where it should have been from factory.

finishing touches

OEM+ styling is all about the detail. When aiming for an understated and sophisticated look, it’s important to prioritise the small things, additions like steering wheel covers, carbon mirror caps, knee-pads and other luxury items can complete your car’s look and ensure for a comfortable experience. Small interior additions such as knee pads and arm rests don’t scream for attention, they simply elevate the vehicle’s look and feel without drastic measure.

Shop Accessories

The main thing about OEM+ cars is that they draw attention via detail, and not by loud pops and bangs or body styling that protrudes from the vehicle and screams 'aftermarket'. The appeal is that a car with the OEM+ look can be side-by-side with a stock vehicle and it'll be a difference of night and day, however, on its own it just looks like a fantastic car, where one might not notice that any work has been done at all.

It's important to have a keen-eye for the small parts, and to remember that an abundance of small changes can make a bigger, and perhaps more aesthetically pleasing difference than one big modification.

At Motech, we value the OEM+ look. We understand that your car might already be at a point you’re happy with, and that you just want those finishing touches to perfect it completely. We’re always happy to help you with your dream build, and we hope this has highlighted why an OEM+ look is perhaps something you should consider for your car.
