OUR BIGGEST PROJECT YET

THE PORSCHE 992.

If you keep up to date with Motech on socials, then you will have seen our new Porsche 992 Carrera S. As far as projects go, this is our most notable yet - in fact, it’s the first time that a Motech demo car hasn’t been a BMW.

The addition of a non-BMW car to our fleet was one that came after a lot of discussion and thought, the idea was to spread our wings and show that we’re capable of modifying cars that would otherwise be left in an OEM state. We were really aware that Porsches might be a touchy subject in the modifications world, the fact that they come out of the factory looking as good as they do begs the question: Do they need anything else?

We wanted to please people who believe in both big builds and OEM+ aesthetics alike, so we prioritised classy, subtle and elegant additions - ones that elevate the lines and shapes of the body without disturbing Porsche’s original idea for the car.

So, in this week’s edition of The Logbook, we wanted to go through every modification we decided on adding to the Porsche, detailing the thought process behind each one.

Motech’s Neodyme Gold M-W4’s

There’s no way we'd do a Porsche run-down and not start with the wheels. For this car, we chose our Fully-forged M-W4 in our Porsche-inspired Neodyme Gold colour.

The deep-dish concave of the M-W4 is perfect for cars with a really sporty look, we usually opt for it on ‘M’ cars - smaller sports cars suit the wheel fantastically.

Dissident Automotive’s Carbon Fibre Front Splitter

For the body styling on the Porsche, we chose Dissident Automotive’s range of Porsche additions. Based in Peterborough, every product is made-to order and hand-crafted - we knew that they’d be the perfect guys for the job and they even came down to fit some of the parts and get some content for themselves.

Like all of Dissident’s parts for this Porsche, it’s a direct replacement. The Dissident Automotive front splitter utilises motorsport inspired styling to accentuate the sleek lines and contours, building on the already spectacular Porsche 992.

Dissident Automotive’s Carbon Fibre Side Sills

Side sills are a vital part of this build - the 2 seater, sleek chassis of the Porsche benefits so much from that extra material going along the side and building it out more.

They highlight the rear arches and classic 911 curves beautifully. Spanning across the space between both wheels, the Dissident Automotive Side sills make it so each side appears slightly lower to the ground, bringing the Porsche closer to the road and providing a more aggressive, race-inspired aesthetic.

Dissident Automotive’s Carbon Fibre Ducktail

For the Carbon Fibre Ducktail, we decided to do something really special.

Like the rest of the kit, we received the Ducktail with no added paint - a fully carbon fibre appearance. Seeming as this is one of the stand-out pieces and we wanted to do something to make this Porsche special, we opted to get our friends at Colourkraft to paint the left & right side of the spoiler - leaving a window of exposed carbon.

The sleek, flowing design of the Ducktail joins the roof and window line with its unique design - it provides increased road presence and a sporty look to spotlight the intricate shapes of the car.

Quicksilver’s Titan Sport Exhaust

This Quicksilver exhaust provides a wonderful, deep, muscle-rich sound for the Porsche. This system is completely internal, and the external outlets don’t change - but the sound does.

We knew we needed something hard-hitting for this car, and Quicksilver never disappoint.

Springs & Spacers

No Motech build is complete without the addition of Eibach Springs & Spacers, they’re so essential when trying to create an OEM+ look on any car, especially one as important as this.

The Porsche’s stance is beautiful, lowered by 20-30mm on the front and 10mm on the rear - it is only aided further by the 7.15/12mm spacer setup, making the wheels sit flush with the arches.

bits to remember

There are some smaller additions to the Porsche that, while not being drastic enough to warrant their own section, make all the difference when paired with each other.

Carbon Fibre Arch Guards

As much as they enhance the aesthetics of the car, the arch guards provide the front arches of the Porsche with protection from stone chips, tar, and anything else you might encounter on the road.

K&N Panel Filters

The K&N Panel Filters for this car just complete the engine bay. Easy to install and great for performance.

Dissident Automotive’s Carbon Fibre Wind Deflectors

Sitting on the window parallel to the mirrors, the Carbon Fibre wind deflectors offer a small touch that completes the car and puts carbon where you didn’t know it was needed.

We hope you enjoyed reading about our new Porsche, we definitely enjoyed building it!
